The word “afya” means health in Swahili. AFYA, Inc. (AFYA), is a technical and professional services firm founded in 1991 to positively impact the health and well-being of all, with a special focus on underserved populations. We design and support projects that facilitate access to care, help remove barriers to an optimum quality of life, and help integrate healthy individuals and families into their communities.
AFYA is committed to eliminating health disparities and improving the quality of life and overall health of underserved populations, including racial and ethnic minorities, women, children, the elderly, people living in poverty, the homeless, people battling addiction, and mental health consumers.
We conduct small and large-scale studies, evaluations, needs assessments, and other types of qualitative and quantitative research. We are experts at primary and secondary data analysis, literature reviews, focus group studies, and performance measurement. In addition to research and evaluation, our service lines include technical assistance and training, health communication, conference and meeting planning, peer review support, Web site design and maintenance, publications development, and graphics services.
Our corporate vision is centered on a world where the well-being of underserved populations is improved through the availability and use of evidence-based research data, effective health communication efforts, training of health professionals, and peer-to-peer collaboration and communication.
